"These guys are the Click & Clack of Auto repair, radiator running hot, describe my issues they listened and went to work. Found a leak which had been an on going problem that big boys in Phoenix charged me and yet never solved the problem. Same day service done radiator replaced! Issue solved. Bought the car low mileage, longer in years, but radiator had never been flushed causing long term and costly repairs. I'm a handyman by trade when I walk into a multi million dollar home you have the wrong guy. Same thing here, if you have a problem their experience tells me they can find it without the book and computer. I plan on bring my cars to them on next vacation, for a good going over."
"Choosing this repair shop cost us dearly due to their poor knowledge and severe lack of integrity. We were from out of town and we blew our tranny on a hill outside of the town of Show Low. We asked the tow truck driver for a good "transmission" shop, our mistake! That driver brought us to this hole in the wall and looking back... it all seems like a B rated horror flick. A Better Auto's owner told us we would have a quote in 24 hours. In 72 hrs we received a quote of a tranny rebuild being $900-$1100 and it would take 7-10 days. We were told they would need to remove and re-install our transmission as they had to ship out the tranny to a rebuild shop. We specifically asked if the rebuild shop could just do the work (as we would use AAA to tow it there) and we pay him his diagnostic fee, we thought it was the cheaper way to go. The shop owner stated- "no, they just rebuild the transmissions, you still need a shop for the removal and install." Unfortunantly we took him at his word and we approved the quote. In the process of removing our tranny...A Better Auto (the shop owner and his cursing cuz) broke off a $480 neutral safety switch by not following Chrysler/Jeeps removal instructions, because following these instructions would have warned them that improper removal would result in damage of the NSS. A Better Auto tried to slapped some dirty ball joint grease on the fractured part to try to show us it must have been that way for a long time (I wiped it off in front of them, then argument with defensive foul mouth cursing cuz followed). It doesn't stop there, they also ripped off the $90 crankshaft sensor wiring which later caused issues with the main Jeep computer. SO....now our $900-$1100 quote has jumped with the breakage of parts attatched between the motor and tranny...yeah, they stuck to us. Why would I seriously question this shops integrity and steer well away from them you ask!? A few reasons I have already mentioned, but mainly being that the tranny they stated that had to be "shipped" out, turns out Southwest Transmissions is ONE mile down the road and the professional transmission shop who did the rebuild in fact does do removal and installations of transmissions and other auto repair with warranty of their work! (A Better shop owner lied straight to our face about that fact). The $900-$1100 quote turned into a $2300 bill if we wanted the keys to our vehicle back or we could choose court. We paid for and delivered the $480 NSS them from the dealer, so actually we are up to $2800 and we are still finding more costs as each month goes by beyond that and the crank sensor. The latest being a improperly installed tailshaft seal....tack on another $100. Our $3000 tranny rebuild. :) One last resaon I would advise to steer clear, the owner stated he could have it done in 7-10 days. Yeah...well with the two guys not sticking to their own shop hours, closed on some Fridays, closing between 2pm or 4pm...just depends I guess, it took them 28 days and during that 28 days they kindly parked our white Jeep under a sap dripping pine tree. Thanks guys! STAY AWAY PEOPLE, You have been warned"
