Riverdale Tire

My name is Jeff Williamon. If you are interested in how we ended up in the tire business for the last 39 years, this is our history. My dad, Thomas Williamon, in the early seventies had a bad experience getting a tire repaired on his motor home. He stopped at several shops and could not find anyone that seemed interested in helping him. Finally, after doing most of the work himself he decided that our the town of Riverdale needed an honest place where folks could have their tire and automotive services met. Thomas and my mom, Lee already had one business in Riverdale, Lee's Day Care, where they operated a nursery and kindergarten for children. While looking for a place for this new business, he decided on an existing store. On July 3rd, 1972, he purchased Scott's Tire and Glass,and changed the name to Riverdale Tire Center. My brother Tony move from Nashville with his family to run the store. I was 14 at the time, and worked after school doing whatever I could to help.

The first couple of years were kind of tough going. We had no experience in the tire business and most of what we learned was by trial and error. Then after a while our business improved. We started to learn how the tire business really worked. In 1977, we decided to add alignment into the mix. I took over the duties with the alignment service, and attended the Hunter Alignment Training Center in St Louis, Missouri. When I returned, Tony and I became partners and worked together until he retired at the end of 2009.

Over the years, We have learned that in our business there is nothing more important than our customers. Without you there is no business. Our philosophy is simple: we never promise more than we can deliver, and we always try to give the customer more than they expect. Our customers know customer service is not enough.
