"Use CAUTION! Manager will try to get you to rebuild your transmission instead of just fixing a simple problem with a good transmission while using the "It's for your safety" argument. But they did fix the issue after we insisted just fixing the transmission solenoids. They also fixed it fast and did a good job on it. Just watch out for aggressive upselling."
"I was originally quoted 1750$ to rebuild my transmission, after a day or so I received a call stating it needed a torque converter, new computer, software update and so on. The price quickly jumped to 2300$. When it was finally finished the total bill went up to 2533.00$. After driving the vehicle a few days we noticed it didn't seem right as it shifted hard and was taking a long time to go into gear. so I contacted the manager to discuss the problem and I was told it was normal. I contacted him again a week or so later and I was told I was worrying to much. After another week I took it back and when I walked in the office I was soon meet with a attitude and a raised voice trying to bully me out of his office. I left the vehicle with him and later that day he told me he did a re learn on the computer and I was fixed and "could go on down the road"which ultimately made no difference. The transmission takes at least 3 seconds to go into drive. I will never do business with Gary waters at aamco on south western ever or recommend to anyone."
"Transmission started going out, I had previous experiences with Aamco in Bartlesville, OK for many years so I trusted them. Huge mistake, left it there for diagnosis here in Amarillo, came back day or so later for estimate being told it would need rebuilt. How much, $2800, OK fine but we will need time to get that much money together. We'll be back soon, but guess what, they completely dissembled that thing down to 2000 pieces! This means we cannot ever drive our car again unless pay them $2800. So don't go there for an estimate, why, because they completely dissemble it and then extort you for $2800 to get your car back. No estimate, just pay us or good buy! If you don't have the money, to bad, your car is dissembled pay us or good buy! EXTORTION!"
"THIS PLACE SHOULDNT BE AN OPTION TO TAKE A VEHICLE Back in September 2010 I had taken my vehicle to aamco to have them rebuild my transfer case. the quoted me $879 to do the job. I told them ok go ahead. I get a call a day later sayin hey chance we have bad news we pulled your transfer case and took it apart and we put two holes in the case. the quote is going to go up. I said no its not it wasn't like that when I brought it to you. he tried to feed me bs of the walls where thin anyways and it needed replaced. I would have been fine if they would have called and said hey the walls where thin you might want to replace them instead of putting holes in them then telling me the cost is on me. I get my pickup back 2 weeks later and I go to do an oil change on it and I noticed blue fluid dripping from the transfer case. so I call and let them know what's going on and they are willing to fix it under the 12k mile or 12 month warranty. I had to get a rental car for two weeks while they fix the pickup again. once again I get it back and now I have an extremely loud clunking noise coming from the transfer case. I check under the pickup and I can slide the slip yoke completely out of it. so once again I call back and let GARY know what's going on all in a month an a half's time. He told me he couldn't warranty it this time because he's loosing time and money because I'm being to "picky." obviously I wasn't happy and told him you will fix it or I want my money back to take it somewhere that will do the job right the first time. he refused. so I called corporate and told them what was going on and they made me send them my receipt and show some proof. they refunded my money and I went on about my way. Side note: I wish I could have rated them with zero stars. I also left a review on the aamco website back then that is no longer there ironically. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!"
"I took my vehicle in to diagnose a delayed park to reverse shift. $2500 I have a truck with a rebuilt transmission that has a much longer delay from park to reverse. Additionally, the man who runs the counter is not friendly/pleasant to deal with."
"Gary was very helpful in this process. He kept me updated thru the whole process. It turned out more expensive than originally expected, but what..."
