"Please, please heed the reviews (including this one) and steer far, far away from this place. Like other reviewers, if I could give this company zero stars, I would. We brought our car to Ebert's AAMCO after being given an estimate over the phone of $2,100 to $2,800 to replace our transmission. Another shop gave a similar quote, but we decided to choose Ebert's because of its proximity to our home. After dropping off the vehicle, my husband received a call about one to two hours later. On the call, he was told that he would be charged $600 for the world to remove, inspect and reinstall the transmission. We decided to move forward given the reasonable estimate we had received. It was a day or so later when we received a call with the quote to fix our vehicle. It was over $3,200, significantly higher than the estimate to replace the transmission. This quote was to rebuild the transmission. When inquiring about replacing the transmission, my husband was told the cost would be much higher. Given that we were already down $600 with no actual work being done, we decided to stick with this company, despite the actual cost being $1,100 to $400 more than originally quoted. When the vehicle was done, I did express to the front desk at the time that I wasn't happy with the price I was paying, but it is what it is. I took the car home. About an hour or so later, I was looking over the receipt/work summary I had been given. Imagine my surprise when I saw a disclaimer on the invoice explaining that $450 (not $600) would be charged for the service of removing, inspecting and re-installing the transmission. Why would someone tell my husband this was $600, when the paperwork clearly says $450? Aside from that, imagine my shock when right below this, the actual amount charged for this service was over $900! Yes, despite the paperwork saying $450, we were told $600 over the phone and then charged over $300 than that price. I sent a private message on Facebook to the company with an image of the receipt (featured here) asking for an explanation. This message was sent on July 12. I received a message shortly after that stated the message would be passed along to someone else. I decided to go directly to the owner with my concerns. In my email, I explained the situation. I did not demand my money back or cause a scene. I simply asked for an explanation. The owner responded back by telling me that two employees had been added to the email thread and that I would receive an answer by the following Monday. Monday came and went with no response. The next few days were spent in a back-and-forth email exchange, with me stressing again and again I just wanted an explanation as to why we were charged more than the standard rate, and why the rate we were given over the phone was more than what their policy states. I continued to get the run around and was told that the two people that could provide answers were unable to get on a conference call with the owner to discuss the charges. Finally, I heard nothing for several days and sent a final email on July 23 stating that I had tried to work with the company before posting my review. I was overcharged and no one feels as though they owe me an explanation for why I was overcharged. That's just outright dishonest, and I refuse to work with a company that would take advantage of a customer like this. As of this time, I have received no response from the company. In the email signature of the owner, there is a cell phone number. On July 25, my husband attempted at numerous times to reach the owner. He never received a response. I will NEVER use this company again, and I am making sure that this review is spread across the web and through my friends and family to make sure that they avoid a company that engages in deception and refuses to offer up answers for its customers. I am highly dissatisfied with this experience and would recommend that anyone reading this choose one of the other shops in the Greenville area over this one."
"TERRIBLE service. Just like some of the others, if I could give zero stars I would. My main problem with this place is their HORRIBLE customer service. They don’t care about you only how much money they can get from you. They don’t call you to give you an update on your car you have to call. I had to call so much they started ignoring my phone calls so I had to drive 40 minutes from my house to their shop to get an update. When I got up there the lady working the office went out to the shop to talk to the owner to get an update and he pitched a fit. He was screaming and threw his shop rag. I had my son with me too and he saw the owner pitch a fit and didn’t understand why he was pitching a fit about my car. I was fed up and ended up getting my car and taking it to Bradshaw Cadillac who ended up being cheaper and treated me like a human being. How is a Cadillac dealership cheaper than Eberts? My car had grease all on the driver’s side door panel and all over the hood and doors. This isn’t a new issue though. They aligned my Nissan Titan a while back and got grease all in it as well. Some of my family have been coming to Eberts for years but will not return after my incident. I would take all of these reviews seriously before stepping foot into Eberts! I wish I would’ve read them! *******UPDATE******************************************************* Chris your response is a flat out lie. I know who you are as does my family. You were at the shop because I saw you pitch a fit and throw your shop rag when I had to drive up there to get an update on my Cadillac. So you are fully aware of the situation. I'll say it again, you have my phone number. If you care so much about your customers as you say you do then I'll expect a phone call."
"DO NOT RECOMMEND, POOR SERVICE AND COMMUNICATION. Had the worst experience and customer service at this Aamco location. Took 1 1/2 days to get a call after my scheduled appointment to learn some details of what my truck needed. Took another 1 1/2 days to complete the repairs, then arrived to find it wasn't done. Next day they rushed to return it, collect their money and wasn't 15 miles down the road before having to pull over and have it towed back. 2 days later their mistakes were mostly corrected and the District Manager offered to do nothing to make it right. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, FIND ANOTHER SHOP!!!"
"Great job on my truck. Thanks for helping Mechanic Mike in making my pick up happen and me not having to stay in the motel 6 over night."
"I have had transmission work done on my car at Ebert's. The work was good. The price was reasonable. Will return."
