Rebuilt Transmission (most vehicles): NOTE: Cars, trucks & vans with a manufacturer's rated capacity of one ton and under receive a 36/50 (US) or 36/80 (Canada) warranty. EXCEPTIONS: vehicles with manual transmissions, vehicles over one ton, RV's, police/fire/emergency vehicles, vehicles used as/for rentals, taxis, limousine, snow plowing, commercial towing or "high rail" applications (modified for use on RR tracks). These exception type vehicles receive a 12/12 (US) or 12/20 (Canada) warranty. You can identify the carrying capacity by the VIN. On domestic vehicles, the vehicle is eligible for the 36/50 (US) or 36/80 (Canada) warranty if the 6th digit of the VIN is 3 or less.

"I recently purchased a vehicle. The previous owner mentioned that the car needed transmission rebuild or fixed. I did some research and found that my car had a CD4E transmission and this particular transmission was known to have issues. Someone posted that if you had cancer would you go to a general doctor to solve your problem? I had a transmission problem so I decided to take it to a transmission shop. I brought my car to AAMCO in Warren based on ratings and the reviews from individuals.
I have to admit that I was expecting the worse. I explained the symptoms to Dave and he diagnosed to the problem over the phone within seconds. It turns out the 2 4 band went out on the car resulting in an ability to shift into 2nd or 4th gear. What I anticipated to be a couple thousand dollars for a transmission rebuild ended up being a couple hundred to replace a failed band.
I was so happy I attempted to give Rick (the mechanic who worked on my car) a tip for doing a fantastic job. He refused the tip and said my satisfaction was enough......REALLY!!! I was blown away.
As other people have mentioned if you're looking for an honest shop that will provide you with great service at a reasonable price look no further than AAMCO in Warren, MI."

"Just want to make sure you know the integrity behind the work at AAMCO. I had over $4K of work done at the Sterling Heights location that closed down. We made several attempts to call this location. We later found out the franchisee of the Warren location was also part owner of Sterling Heights. I had the transmission replaced along with other work and 1 month pass the 1 year warranty, the trans was doing the same exact thing it did when we had it replaced. I contacted the Warren office and they said nothing can be done as the warranty period passed, again are talking about 1 month or so after the expiration. I contacted AAMCO customer service and they basically said SORRY, but the Warren store is not going to do anything about it. So I am writing this to caution you on the integrity of the owner of the Warren location. $4K worth of work on this vehicle and that only covered me for 12 months. I was reassured by the tech that this warranty should be sufficient. I am a mom of 3 working 2 jobs and know how hard everyone works for their funds, so just be aware.

"Dave at AAMCO did everything right from the get-go. Extremely happy with my experience. He replied to my voicemail before any other shop, and I immediately trusted him. I called about an issue with my 2010 VW golf and he had already narrowed it down to a few likely issues before seeing the car. He provided a very reasonable price for the diagnosis process and as soon as he found out that his suspicions were right , he called me with a very reasonable price. It was not a transmission issue. It was an obscure wiring issue unique to the model, a difficult car to work on and a very reasonable price, so I know that he is must be honest. Car was done in half a day.
Dave also went further to add a temporary fix to a hazardous body issue on a completely separate part of the car free of charge, and recommended that I go to a body shop. He advised on what aspect of body repair was really necessary for my safety. I never even asked!
