"I the transmission of my Ford Explorer replaced by AAMCO. After about a year and a half I noticed some hard shifting. I brought my truck back to AAMCO and they said the transmission needed to be replaced. It took them a couple of days, some of that was waiting the replacement transmission to be shipped, and they replaced it under their warranty. It didn't cost me a dime. My trucks shifting smooth as silk now. These guys are great!"
"I have been visiting this location for years. Since I live in NYC, I cannot get my car inspected here, so I've been inconsistent in my patronage. But, I went in there at the end of June 2018 & Matthew greeted me with a smile & a good dose of understanding around my "elderly" car's age & state of being. These city & area streets are rough on a vehicle, indeed! I had been experiencing extreme care from my VW dealer in Manhattan, but that relationship dried up when that person left for another dealership. So, when my car ran into issues for its annual inspection, the dealer hit me with an estimate into the thousands. Yes, I know the dealer is rarely the place to go for a deal...but, still... Anyway, I brought the car to Matthew, and all the work was done well & for a fraction of the price that the dealer charged...and all in the same day. I felt taken care of as opposed to how the dealer made me feel. So much so that I was able to go to the AAMCO in the Bronx & pass inspection in 20 minutes. I will always trust Matthew & the good people at AAMCO!"
"I went for the transmission flush for my 2008 Nissan's CVT transmission as I had lot of trouble with CVT(Nissan's only answer was - REPLACE IT). I though to do a flush before spending $4000 in replacing it. Other shops could have easily done it and charge me $200 but folks at this place explained the con's of flush in my car's case . Due to recent issues with my car, I had contacted and visited at least 10+ mechanic shop(Including other AAMCO center) and everyone were just trying to find ways to get money from me but at this place, they spend 15-20 min explaining me possible issue which can happen if I do CVT flush and even did free diagnosis. If you have transmission issue with your car, I will surely recommend these guys. Believe me, this was the only place I felt that I am not being cheated. Not because, they didn't change me anything but its about overall experience."
"They have been using their employees and family to leave good feedback for themselves. Lol *Cheats* They will give an estimate and then charge you 3 to 4 times after working on it. They will give you one timeline and then deliver the car after 1 week later than what they initially promised. They will tell you car will work just fine after recommended fixes. Don't be surprised to hear there are more fixes. Bottom line - cheats at the highest level. Background story: They gave me estimate of $1200 transmission work and they weren't sure if that will fix the problem and it could cost few hundred more. I was told nothing can be certain until they remove transmission and examine. I told them if it's 1200 it's fine with me much beyond that it's not worth it because car is old. Then I gave a okay on the phone to work on it. They kept on pushing away fixing the car! They didn't fix the car in 3 days as initially promised when I left the car. Excuse was they were too busy to work on it and some shortage of man power. Finally I get a call back from them after 1 week saying the problem was bigger than initially anticipated so it will cost me $3600 for the fix. I told them it's not worth for me to get it fixed at that cost so I like take the car back. I was told since they opened up the car, I have to pay them $800 for opening and putting back the car. I even told them they don't have to put it back but they insisted it's they policy to put it back before giving the car back. Been in lot of stressed I agreed for $3600 fix. After I came back home, some of the issues of slipping gear and funny noises were still there. I asked them to fix it properly as workmanship supposed to be under warranty. They took car for test drive and told me those issues are not related. I personally think they didn't fix it properly. Even if it's not related problem, why would anyone give me half fixed car back instead of notifying me of further problems? I was talking to old family friend of mine who was in bodybuilding business for 20 years. He told me whole thing is unprofessional and unethical. They shouldn't even have worked on the car without getting my written consent and without providing a proper quotation on the paper. To be honest, I should have sued them for trying to con me but then i knew very little about how things should be."
"Took my car on April 5th for a noise i was experiencing during unstable roads. I was charged $400 for a full service repair and other car services. Four days after the repair, my cars noise returned and got worst. I spoke to a representative and they advice me to bring the car back. Upon the 2nd car inspection, they determined that something else was the problem and decided to charge me for this new quote. I decided to see another AAMCO or possibly another mechanic because in my opinion, a courtesy repaired should have been established. A representative had the nerves to quote me at $500 more for the repair. And that does not guarantee that the problem will go away. My advice to all, seek a 2nd opinion about your car because these folks main priority is money. Not helping customers."
