"Recently my daughter's Toyota had a series transmission and clutch problem. As a father living on the mainland I was really concerned that I was 3000 miles away from being able to help. I want to give a huge thank you to Mike and the guys at Aamco, they very quickly had her up and running much to my relief and at a very fair price. Highly recommend this company and I am told they do a lot more than transmissions. My daughter won't be going anywhere else for her car service on the Big Island...........Mahalo"
"I brought my pickup to AAMCO for a repair quote on a transmission leak, and to investigate a whine noise in gear 3. They said an internal inspection was required to investigate the whine noise, and gave me a quote of $850 which I approved. Upon inspecting the transmission they recommended that I have the transmission replaced for about $4000. Due to the large cost, I opted to wait before replacing the transmission. I told them that I would come to pick up the truck and pay the $850 inspection charge, and they told me that my transmission was completely disassembled and that they would not put my vehicle back together unless I paid them an additional $1200 on top of the $850 inspection quote that I had already approved. The $1200 was just to put my vehicle back together, with no repairs being performed at all. I declined to pay the outrageous fee, and instead had my vehicle towed to a more ethical shop to have it put back together."
"I recently had some trouble with my Jeep. Rose and Ron were absolutely amazing and extremely helpful and diagnosed the problem right away. My shifter cable was broken. They quickly fixed it all up for a good price. They are lovely people with an aloha spirit and outstanding customer service. I would definitely recommend them."
"My van transmission blew up on me on a tuesday and had it towed to Aamco. Ron took in my van had it back to me in 4 business days as a business owner that meant alot . Thanks Ron for all the great service Mahalo! Mike Matsuoka Carpet Pros Hawaii"
"On 8/9/16 AAMCO supposedly rebuilt my transmission and charged me $2922.00. After I picked it up the noise that I originally brought my jeep in for was still present. On 9/16/16 I took it to Auto Tech and the mechanic who told me there was STILL a transmission problem but the original noise I was hearing was actually coming from the rear end. Frustrated and busy I put this problem on the back burner. I was told it was "safe" to drive but service needed to be done soon so I've been driving the car with all of the discomfort and anxiety of the noises. On 10/25/16 I took my vehicle in for a routine oil change at Firestone and again the technician told me "transmission was making a grinding noise". I immediately took it back to AAMCO and Ron, the owner, took it for a test drive with me and assured me it was a "normal" transmission noise. On 11/7/16. I took my vehicle into Transmission Technology who test drove my vehicle and told me there was a rear end problem that needed work but also a whining noise coming from the transmission that needed attention. On 11/8/16 The owner of Transmission Technology called me into his office to talk to one of his technicians, (former employee of AAMCO), who had witnessed the work done on my vehicle. This technician explained that he told the Ron, the owner, that what I really needed was rearend work and that my car was misdiagnosed and the transmission repair was not done properly. Since then the employee has been fired. Today I am left with the original problem with the rear differential, a lingering transmission problem along with a $3000.00 bill to pay off and a loss for humanity and the "aloha spirit". I will be contacting the better business bureaus and my lawyer if I don't get this problem resolved."
"Yet another dishonest company who seeks to charge far more than book rate simply because there is little to no local competition on an island in the middle..."
