Where do you live, and how’d you learn about Openbay?
I live in Irvine, CA. I first heard about Openbay from a friend who’d found out about it on Reddit.
What kind of vehicles do you drive?
I have a 2013 Subaru BRZ and a 1991 Toyota Land Cruiser.
When you first heard about it, what attracted you about Openbay?
One of the biggest frustrations I’ve had has been finding a good shop to have vehicles worked on. I’ve tried researching on Yelp, but I always wound up getting subpar service and overpaying.
I like the idea that Openbay allows mechanics to openly submit quotes, which gives me the opportunity to make sure I am getting a fair price from a reputable shop.
Has Openbay delivered, as you had expected?
Yeah, it has delivered in spades. I’ve used it twice in last few months and received better pricing than in the past, as well as phenomenal service. That’s something that’s completely new to me. Both shops that worked on my vehicles were great.
What’s been your experience working with mechanics in the past?
Every once in a while, I’d find a mechanic that seemed to be giving me a fair price, but without any baseline for what other businesses would charge, I couldn’t be sure if I was still overpaying. It makes so much more sense to be able to get an estimate from Openbay before scheduling a service.
How’d you know what each vehicle needed?
I have an above-average understanding of cars, but repairs can be a big drain on time so it’s usually easier to find a good mechanic to do the job.
My Subaru had needed a standard 30K service, so that was easy. I used Openbay to gather several quotes, chose a reputable shop, and got the work done. The shop was great.
For the Land Cruiser, I paid the general diagnostic fee to figure out if my truck had a more serious problem than I anticipated.. That place was also fantastic and gave fair price for the work that eventually needed to get done.


Will you book with Openbay again?
